— Fast & Simple —
Nearest Neighbor Fastest
Copies the closest pixel directly. Preserves hard edges exactly without blending, making it ideal for pixel art and retro game sprites. Looks blocky on photos.
Bilinear
Blends the 2x2 nearest pixels. Very fast, linear gradient blend that produces a smooth output. Softens sharp borders, making detailed images look slightly blurry.

Bicubic / Catmull-Rom
Standard sharp cubic filter. Analyzes a 4x4 pixel neighborhood (a = -0.5) to keep edges clear and natural. Standard default for general image editing and photography upscaling.
Mitchell-Netravali
A tunable cubic filter parameterized (B=1/3, C=1/3) to balance sharpness against ringing (halo) artifacts. Highly favored in video scaling for its natural rendering.

Lanczos3
Windowed sinc filter with radius 3 (6x6 grid). Considered the gold standard of classical scaling filters, providing high edge sharpness with minimal aliasing artifacts.
B-Spline
A smooth cubic spline (B=1, C=0) prioritizing gradient smoothness over edge sharpness. Produces no haloing or ringing, giving a very soft but perfectly clean result.

Edge-Directed (EDI)
Performs gradient analysis to detect diagonals and interpolates along edges rather than crossing them. Greatly reduces staircasing jaggedness on curved line art.
xBR-style / Scale2x
Rule-based pattern recognition filter. Redraws clean diagonals on low-resolution pixel art instead of blurring. Heavily size-guarded for mobile tab stability.
